Access Zone:
This includes all areas of access to your property for fire officials.
for example: properly painted address, driveway, bridges, and street signs.
Defensible Space Zone:
This is the three areas of vegetation surrounding your house:
Noncombustible area: Directly surrounding your house at least 5 feet out.
Lean, Clean, Green area: The area from 5 to 30 feet away from your home.
Wildland fuel Reduction area: Just past your Lean, Clean, Green area, including the natural trees and shrubs.
Built Zone:
This refers to the structure or items built onto your house which could cause or prevent fires from spreading.
for example: roof, windows, chimney, rain gutters, and firewood.
Interior Zone:
This refers to the items and systems in and around your house which lead to fires or protect you from them.
for example: smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, candles, and escape routes.
